Transport, weather, emergencies, access to services, and local knowledge all shape how we live. Too often, island voices are overlooked, and local platforms are sold, abandoned, or controlled by interests outside the community.
SMBI Local exists to make sure that doesn’t happen here.
We were created to:
Keep local digital platforms community-owned and protected
Ensure island information stays accurate, current, and accessible
Support the businesses and services our community depends on
Build tools that help during emergencies, events, and daily life

What we’re building and how it works
At its core, this project separates community interest from commercial activity—by design.
